Cornelius "Neil" J. Donovan, 82 a resident of Salisbury, MA. and a former 36 year resident of North Andover, MA, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA.
He was born to John and Margaret (Keating) Donovan on December 9, 1925 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was educated in St. Patrick's Grammar School and he was a Graduate of Lawrence High School. Mr. Donovan served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for Shawmut Bank (Arlington Trust) as a Vice President and Branch Manager for 37 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club in Lawrence, MA, and a Treasurer for the Greater Lawrence Service Center in Lawrence, MA. He loved to swim especially at the Lawrence YMCA. He loved to spend time with his family.
He leaves his loving wife of 49 years Ann M. (Speechley) Donovan. His children: son David and his wife Celeste Donovan of Londonderry, NH, daughter Martha A. and her husband John Iannazzo of Salisbury, MA, son Drew C. and his wife Linda Donovan of York, Maine, son Matthew C. and his wife Kelly of Boxford, MA. Grand children: Jay and Michael Iannazzo, Justin, Ashlynne, David, Kaitlin, Allison, Erin, Katherine, and Lauren Donovan. Two brothers: Charles and his wife Marion Donovan of Florida, and Daniel "Dapper" and his wife Anne Donovan of Lawrence, MA. and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00AM At St. Patrick Church in Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover, MA.
