Obituary

CAPUTO~ Leah Ann "Opened Arms to Life" After an 11 year valiant battle with breast cancer, our sweet angel Leah left this world on March 17th at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, FL surrounded by her loving family. Born in Revere, MA, Leah graduated from Revere High School, class of 1983, where she was known for her laughter, passion for life, and love of family and friends. She brought her lightness of spirit and adventure to everyone she touched - she was truly magical! Leah travelled the world extensively and later found solace in her home on the ocean in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She graduated from Bay State College and the Florida College of Natural Health and worked for Marriott Corporation as an aesthetician in the spa at the Marriott Harbor Beach hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Leah lived a holistic lifestyle and studied yoga and meditative reflection for much of her adult life - sharing her gift of love and compassion. Leah was a volunteer for several years with the “Look Good – Feel Better” program for women undergoing cancer treatments.

Leah’s family and friends remember her as always smiling, kind, sympathetic, helpful, charming and positive. She opened her arms to life and approached people of all backgrounds with a kind and non-judgmental nature. Her trusting heart led her to forgive others, seek peace and approach life with faith, compassion, spirituality and devotion.

Leah is survived by her loving parents, Judith Buonfiglio Levis, and Joseph, of Andover, MA and Hillsboro Beach, FL; her sister Laurie (Caputo) Sousa and her husband Damian residing in Palm Harbor, FL; her sister Catherine Caputo residing in Morrisville, NC; her brother Paul Caputo of Miami, FL; Chris Levis of Exeter, NH; John Levis and his wife, Christine, of Methuen, MA; Matt Levis and his wife, Pamela, of North Andover, MA, and Brian Levis of Boston. She is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Leah’s many friends reached out to her during her illness and traveled far and wide to wherever she was in order to express their love for her.

The family wishes to thank Leah’s extended family of friends and co-workers, doctors and nurses at Mass. General Hospital; her oncologist of 11 years, Dr. Leif Ellisen of Mass. General Hospital; and the wonderful nurses at the Cancer Center, Yawkey Building in Boston, who took care of Leah.
