Roberta F. “Bobbie” Jones, born April 21, 1936 in Stoughton, passed on April 26, 2010 after a long illness. Roberta was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Dorothy R. (Case) Jones, formerly of Halifax and Flagler Beach, FL. Survived by longtime friend and companion, Janet Khouri of Ormond Beach, FL; sister Regina Gunnerson of W. Bridgewater; brother Thomas Jones and his wife Lily of Gander, Newfoundland; nieces Carolyn Vasiliauaskas and her husband Joe of Fort Collins, CO and Jennifer Hamilton and her husband Bill of Laramie, WY; and nephews Michael Peter Petitt and Eric Gunnerson of W. Bridgewater, Tony Clouter and his wife Michelle of Whitby, ON and Andrew Clouter of Halifax, NS; as well as 2 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces.
Roberta attended Stoughton High School and graduated in 1954. She graduated in 1959 with a BA in Education from the Bridgewater State Teacher College. Roberta taught for 25 years as a physical education teacher in Hanson, Plymouth, Ellington, CT and Stoughton. She also worked for the State of Florida. She was a basketball coach, softball player, former president of the Ormond Beach Business & Professional Women’s Association. Bobbie was an avid golfer and sports woman and former club champion golfer at Halifax Country Club in Halifax and Rivera Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach, FL and Tomoka Oaks, FL. She was also an avid fan of the Orlando Magic.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, May 1 at 10 AM. Visitation prior from 9-10 AM. Burial will take place at Central Cemetery, Halifax.
