Obituary

Donald R. Fortier Sr. 63, of Cranston St. died Thursday at home. He was the husband of Claudette M. (Giguere) Fortier. Mr. Fortier was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Raymond and Delima (Richer) Fortier. He was a US Air Force Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Fortier was a polisher for Swank's Jewelry for seventeen years, he then worked as a dispatcher for Circuit City and Wickford Appliance before retiring in 2006 due to illness. Mr. Fortier also worked part-time as a bartender for seventeen years at St. Joseph Veteran's Hall, and seventeen years at the former Embassy Restaurant. He coached baseball for the East Woonsocket Little League and was a member of St. Joseph's Sr. Citizens and the Golden Heart Sr. Citizens.

Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Donald R. Fortier Jr., Denis H. Fortier, David Fortier and Daniel R. Fortier, a brother Richard Fortier and five grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Devin, Carissa, And Lauren all of Woonsocket.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Agatha's Church, Joffre St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7 PM.
