Obituary

Ervin M. Biernat 84 years old, of Oklahoma City Oklahoma passed into the hands of God on August 1 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mildred Anne (Bruich) Biernat who died in February 2008.
Born in Chicago Illinois, August 10, 1923 the eldest of six children and the only son of the late Stanley and Antoinette (Babiarz) Biernat. Ervin was raised in Chicago and attended DePaul University. On June 21, 1947 he married his beloved Mildred and was married for 60 wonderful years. In 1948 he began his career with the Hertz Corporation and was transferred to their corporate headquarters in New York City where he remained for 18 years as the Director of Properties and Concessions. In 1978 Hertz moved operations to Oklahoma where Ervin continued until his retirement in 1992 completing 44 years of service. He had been staying with his son Michael and daughter-in-law, Denise, in Bellingham since the death of his wife in February.
Ervin was an accomplished accordion player and in his younger days had his own orchestra and was a member of the Accordion Club of Oklahoma. He enjoyed photography; ice skating, baseball, football and hockey.
He is survived by his children whom he held so dear, Alexandra B.Hallock and her husband Eugene of Albany New York, Marsha L. Biernat and Gregory J. Biernat of Boston MA, Michael S. Biernat and his wife Denise of Bellingham, Jeffery E. Biernat and his wife Mardi of Lansdale PA.
He is also survived by his sisters Theresa Berberian of Harvey IL, Clara Fonfara of Lock Port IL, Evelyn Radcliffe of Oak Forest IL and Estelle Biernat of Harvey IL.
He was the brother of the late Loretta Juskiewicz of Lemont IL.
He also leaves behind sister-in-laws Dorothy Fosle and Daisy Kozar of Lansing IL and brother-in-laws Herbert Juskiewicz of Lemont IL and Harry Berberian of Harvey, IL, nieces, nephews and Godchildren who love their Uncle Ervin.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Hallock Coleman and her husband Timothy, Eugene Hallock IV, Alexandra Hallock, Jeffrey Biernat Jr. and Isabella Biernat.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday August 6 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
