Thomas J. Hogarty, 70

Thomas J. Hogarty, 70 of Bristol, RI formerly of East Bridgewater passed away on Saturday May 22, 2010 in the presence of his loving family at the home of his daughter in Providence, RI.
Born in Chelsea, MA on December 5, 1939 he was a son of the late Francis and Lillian (Bonner) Hogarty.
Tom grew up and was educated in Chelsea and following his service in the U.S. Air Force National Guard, he received his Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University .
For over 30 years he was employed as a Program Manager at General Dynamics in Taunton. He was a resident of Bristol for the past 4 years and had formerly resided for over 25 years in East Bridgewater.
Tom was a former member and past treasurer of the Knights of Columbus in Whitman, was a former member and past treasurer of the Commercial Club in East Bridgewater and while living in East Bridgewater was a parishioner of St. John’s Church.
An avid reader, he was a New England sports fanatic, enjoyed traveling, possessed strong ethics in the working field and enjoyed spending time with his adoring family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted children Derek S. Hogarty of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and Nicole A. Hogarty of Providence, RI. He was the dear brother of Jan Memmelo of Winthrop, Patricia Kindelan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Michael Hogarty of Stow and the late Joan Levine. The cherished grandfather of Matthew Hogarty and Riley Hogarty of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday May 27th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 26th from 5-8 P. M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flower’s, Tom’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 44 Binney Street Boston, MA 02115.
