Dorothy Ann Langston Smith, age 81, formerly of Water Valley, MS died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her home in Memphis, TN. She was born April 29, 1935 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Billie Crum and Ruth Pate Langston.
Dorothy worked as a switchboard operator for Goldsmith’s in downtown Memphis. After the birth of her daughter she devoted herself to her family and home. She enjoyed flower gardening; feeding and watching the birds in her yard; and spending time with family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lori (DeWayne) Norris of Memphis, TN; her sister, Martha (Billy Brice) Williamson of Water Valley, MS; her brother, David (Jo) Langston of Water Valley, MS; and two grandchildren, Tiffany (Antony) Crutchfield and Nathan Moody. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Roland Smith; her sisters, Virginia Strunk and Carolyn Fewell; and her brother, Billy Langston. | ||||
