Marguerite King Cook

Marguerite King Cook of Paris, MS died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. She was 94. Born in Coffeeville, MS, she graduated from high school in Shaw, MS in 1939, then attended Sunflower College in Moorehead, MS for one year on a basketball scholarship. Mrs. Cook was a Registered Nurse Anesthetist whose nursing career began in 1944 when she graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. She sought further training in 1953 at the University of Tennessee graduating with a certificate in anesthesia. Her career spanned 44 years. She held positions in Alabama, & Texas before accepting the Director of Nursing position at the newly built Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley in 1962. She continued to perform anesthesia in addition to her nursing duties, eventually becoming the Hospital Administrator of Yalobusha General. Mrs Cook later accepted a position as staff anesthetist at Oxford-Lafayette County Hospital. She retired from there in 1988, indulging in her love of reading, crossword puzzles, learning to play bridge, and spending time with her friends, 8 children & 16 grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 10am at Paris Community Cemetery on Saturday August 29.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, LC Cook in 1988, and sons Jack Michelletti, & Peter Michelletti in 1999 & 2006, respectively.

She is survived by sons, John Michelletti, Lester Michelletti, & Dewey Michelletti of Paris, MS, and daughters Marcia Michelletti Sprouse of Water Valley, MS, Susan Cook Murphy of Xenia, OH, & Carol Ann Cook Clark of Indianola, MS.
