Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Willis Reid McCall, 93, of Ocilla, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 11, 2011, in the Ocilla Cemetery with Rev. Robert Couey and Rev. Gregory Battle officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Turner, Clark Jones, Terry Taylor, Eddie Carver, Donald During and Billy McEachern.

Liz was born in Mystic, Georgia on October 26, 1917, to the late John Marshall and Annie Sutton Willis. Liz was a family-loving, unique and vivacious lady, charming all those she came in contact with. She had a passion for beautiful things of all description. She was extremely talented, and very artistic. Her love for flowers gave her countless hours of pleasure in designing and selling her floral arrangements. She served as a Pink Lady at the Ocilla Hospital for many years, and at one time was employed at the Sunny Dale Training Center. She was instrumental in the day-to-day activities, working with her husband Bubber, at Reid’s Pharmacy in Ocilla. She was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church and the Martha Sunday School class. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.

She is survived by her husband: Robert L. (Bob) McCall of Ocilla; a daughter: Barbara Reid Hamilton and her husband Sonny of Tifton; a grandson: Bert Cox of Brunswick; two granddaughters: Allison Cox Powell and her husband Jeff of Greenville, South Carolina and Melanie Cox Cousins and her husband Skip of Albany; step-grandson: Z.B. Hamilton and his wife Kristy of Tifton; step-granddaughter: Sonya Hamilton Garber and her husband Rick of Atlanta; three great-granddaughters: Olivia Cox of Snellville and Reid Powell and Layton Powell of Greenville, South Carolina; and one great-grandson: Brett Hamilton of Tifton. Also surviving are a step-son: John Mike McCall and his wife Stephanie of Montgomery, Alabama; step-daughters: Lisa McCall Zurick and her husband Ed of Lexington Park, Maryland, and Kim McCall Dutton and her husband Greg of Cumming; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank and mention special friends and caregivers: Ginger Brock, Linda Gray, Damyta (Meat) Larry, Bernadette Owens, Dorothy Murray and Jeanette Battle. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Bubber Reid; a step-son: Keith McCall; two brothers; three sisters; three half-brothers and one half sister.
