Paxton – Shirley Claire (O’Gorman) Bannon, 80, of Paxton passed away Saturday, August 21 at the Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester surrounded by her loving family. Shirley loved her family and her many friends and lived with an outlook and faith that held her throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Paul Bannon; three sons, David Bannon and his wife Joan of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Jeffrey Bannon and his wife Lynne of Sutton, Massachusetts and Mark Bannon and his wife Lisa of Braintree, Vermont; and seven grandchildren, Kristin, Annika, Mallory, Keelin, Matthew, Christopher, and Jonathan.

Throughout her days, Shirley took great interest in the deeds and adventures of those who filled her life. Boyfriends, girlfriends, proms, and college happenings were always good topics for Grammy. With a big heart and gregarious nature, Shirley always listened to the life stories of those around her. While watching her grandchildren’s field hockey games or tennis tournaments, she was always an enthusiastic fan. At family gatherings, amid the talk, she made sure that the “pups” were always at her feet. She always enjoyed her times with friends bowling in the Auburn Seniors League.

Shirley was born February 13, 1930 in Ludlow, Massachusetts a daughter of the late John and Mary (Murphy) O’Gorman.

Shirley spent the early part of her life in western Massachusetts, where she was educated through the Ludlow schools. She worked for many years at Doherty High School in the administrative office, retiring in 1996.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 23rd, from 4 to 8 pm at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester with a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 24, at 10:00 am at St. Columba Parish in Paxton. Burial will be private.
