Maria C. Lopes, 73, of Hudson, died Friday, June 11th at Marlboro Hospital. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Jose Passos Lopes of Hudson.
Maria was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio Chaves Figueiredo and Maria De Gloria (Frias) Figueiredo. She has resided in Hudson the past 41 years where she and her husband Jose raised their children. She worked for several years, employed by the former Thomas Taylor & Sons Co. in Hudson, the former Data General Co. in Westboro and Hudson Lock Co. in Hudson but devoted most of her life to raising her children and caring for her grandchildren she cherished. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, David A. Lopes and his wife Chantelle, Eduardo F. Lopes and Lisa F. Lopes, all of Hudson. She is also survived by her three sisters, Isaura Santos, Isabel Melo, Ines Bairos, all of Hudson; two brothers, Jose and Antonio Figueiredo of Hudson; her four grandchildren, Benjamin Lopes, Corey Byrne, Shane Boivin and Hailey Boivin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 15th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 14th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
