Kenneth W. Sutton, 83, of Ocilla, Georgia died Monday, May 11, 2010, at Hospice Savannah in Savannah, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Ocilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Alligood, the Rev. Rob Dowdle, and the Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Sutton was born January 29, 1927 in Irwin County, GA to the late Fred C. and Georgia Davis Sutton. He was a 1945 graduate of Ocilla High School and attended Georgia Tech. Leaving Georgia Tech, he returned to Irwin County to found the Farmer’s Trading Company which later became Sutton Tractor Company of Ocilla. Mr. Sutton was the last active charter member of the Ocilla Rotary Club. A member of Ocilla Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Clerk and was a member of the Steadfast Seekers Sunday School class.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Leger Sutton; Son: Ken W. (Nancy) Sutton of Ocilla; Daughters: Brenda S. Liberti of West Palm Beach, FL, Dianne S. (Rich) Tincknell of Savannah, GA and Pam S. (Bill) Thompson of Augusta, GA; 14 Grandchildren: Rachel L. (Ron) Niemerg, Drew Liberti, Caroline Liberti, Diane (Jim) Liberti, Amy Tincknell (Jason) Smith, Matthew (Melissa) Tincknell, Jonathan J. (Kristie) Sutton, Ashley Sutton, Shelby Sutton, George (Katie) Connolly, David Connolly, Ben Connolly, Rob Thompson, and Becca Thompson; Great-grandchildren: Tristin Sutton, Jay Sutton, Savannah Smith, Summer Smith and Mary Kate Connolly; Brothers: Jack L (Vivian) Sutton of Harriett’s Bluff, GA and Fred C. Sutton, Jr. of Kingsland, GA; Sisters: Carolyn (Densford) Cartledge of Stone Mountain, GA and Martha Claire (Bill) Todd of Cumming, GA.
