Gonczarek, Walter of Hingham January 16, 2009. Age 84.
Beloved husband of Regina (Tatara) Gonczarek. Loving father of George Gonczarek & wife Kathleen of Marshfield and Donna Sultan & husband Dr. Abdul Aziz Sultan of Kuwait. Grandfather of Gregory Karpinski of Singapore and Alyssa Sultan of Kuwait. Mr. Gonczarek is predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Gonczarek was born in Pinsk, Poland and has been a resident of Hingham for over 30 years. He proudly retired from Mass General Hospital after 26 years of service as part of their maintenance team for their operating theatres.
He will be remembered for his great courage having survived the extreme harshness of being a forced labor prisoner in WWII Germany, for his passion for life and for the selfless sacrifices he made for his family. Extraordinary, complex, fiercely loyal and proud man who defined the word, survivor.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM, Tuesday at 9 AM prior to leaving for Mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa, 655 Dorchester Ave., South Boston at 10 AM. Burial in Hingham.
