Alvin E. Gallimore 81, died Friday June 1st in the Soldiers home in Chelsea, after a period of failing health.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late William H. and Isabel (Martinez) Gallimore.
Alvin grew up in Cambridge; attended Cambridge schools, also earned degrees at BU and Northeastern in engineering.
Alvin was a very active member of the Church of the Advent in Boston; a member of the Mason’s and earned his 50 year metal.
He was a quality control engineer for the Stone & Webster Company for many years; he was also licensed in steam fitting, plumbing and electrical engineering.
Alvin loved helping people in anyway possible.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters John W. Gallimore of Brookline, James B. Gallimore of Weymouth , Isabelle Martinez of CA., Carol Lee Fongeallaz of Florida, Anna Williams and Alice Gallimore both of East Bridgewater; also many nieces and nephews .He was also the brother of the late George , Tyro and Patricia Gallimore.
His Funeral will be held Friday June 8th at 10:30 AM, from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman., followed by a 12:15 P. M. mass in The Church of the Advent ,30 Brimmer Street ,Boston, MA. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester,MA. Visiting hours Thursday June 7th 2-4 & 7-9. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
