Charles W. "Charlie" Anderson

SUDBURY: Charles W. “Charlie” Anderson, 93, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, December 21, 2018 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham after being stricken at his residence.
He was born in Milton on February 9, 1925 the son of the late Charles S. Anderson and Annie (Miller) Anderson.
Charlie was the beloved husband for 56 years of the late Virginia M. “Ginny” (Howson) Anderson who died on January 31, 2006.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Lynne Linnehan and her husband Thomas Linnehan of Marlborough, formerly of Wayland; Charles W. Anderson, II and his wife Melissa Anderson of Meredith, NH and Kenneth D. Anderson and his wife Ann Marie Anderson of Watertown. He was the grandfather of Kalle R. Anderson; Skyler L. Anderson; Kenneth D. Anderson, Jr and Kevin D. Anderson. Brother of the late Edith Qualters.
Charlie has been a resident of Sudbury for over 32 years and spent his formative years in Waltham where he attended Waltham High School. For 15 years, he and Ginny resided in Homosassa, Florida. Charlie enjoyed many years of boating, fishing and camping on Long Lake in Bridgeton, Maine.
He served his country proudly during World War II as a TEC5 with the United States Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He retired in 1987 after 27 dedicated years as a Firefighter with the Town of Sudbury Fire Department. In his earlier years he was associated with the Sudbury School Department as a janitor and also was associated with the Sudbury Highway Department plowing snow. He served the Town of Sudbury for many years on the Park and Recreation Commission. Charlie also served for many years as an Auxiliary Police Office for Sudbury.
Charlie had a wonderful wit, a great sense of humor and always loved telling a good joke. He touched many lives during his journey of 93 years and will be fondly loved and remembered by his family, friends and colleagues.
He was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan and also enjoyed many visits to the Cape with his daughter Lynne and her husband Tom. Charlie loved to make frequent visits to the Sudbury Fire Department to catch up and chat with everyone. The flag pole at the Route 20 Fire Station was dedicated in honor of Charlie and his commitment to the town.
Visitations will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Norman J. Townsend officiating.
Interment will follow in the Anderson family lot in Wadsworth Cemetery in Sudbury.
