CANTON: Yvonne F. (Mankabadi) Moawad, 91, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 2, 2018.
She was born in Assiut, Egypt on October 20, 1927 the daughter of the late Fayez F. Mankabadi and Olga B. (Awad) Manakabadi. She was the beloved wife for 36 years of the late Girgis H. Moawad. Yvonne was the devoted mother of Akmal G. Moawed and his wife Carol Moawed of Canton; Nancy Said, MD and her husband Sameh Said, MD of Worcester and Ayman Moawad and his wife Nahed Moawad of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Rami Said and his wife Aline Said of Watertown; Mark Said of NYC, NY; Neal Moawed and his wife Allyson Moawed of Boston; Andrew Moawad of Boston and Ryan Long of Sharon. Beloved great-grandmother of Samson and Sylvie Said and Hazel and Abraham Long. Sister of Marcelle and Anhar Mankabadi of NJ; Ebetsam Mankabadi of Natick; Fayez Mankabadi of Egypt and the late Ekram Mankabadi.
Yvonne and her family immigrated to the United States in 1980 and became active members of St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Natick. She loved to volunteer her time and talents in helping others. While residing in Egypt, she volunteered at St. Abram Home for Girls. She was active with the Council on Aging in Sharon for many years and was recognized with the Volunteer of the Year award for her many hours of community service. Yvonne enjoyed cooking for others and crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and sewing were among her many talents.
Yvonne was a loving and gentle soul always caring for others and will be fondly remembered and missed by the many lives that she touched in her 91 years. Her family will cherish the many years of love that they shared together.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church, 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA.
Interment will follow the service at The Gardens at Gesthemane in West Roxbury.
Her family kindly suggests that memorial donations in her memory can be sent to St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church and would be appreciated.
