Vicki A. (Blanchard) McIntire, 58, of Mattapoisett died Saturday June 22, 2002 at the Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home in Fall River after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Roderick C. "Rod" McIntire, and daughter of Violet (White ) Blanchard of Dunstable, Mass., and the late Victor Blanchard.
Mrs. McIntire was born in Boston and had lived in Mattapoisett since 1985. She was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Tewksbury. She later resumed her education and was a 1999 graduate of Bristol Community College, where she received both an Associates in Science Degree in the Healthcare Information Program, and an Associates in Arts Degree in General Studies, both with high honors. Following her graduation , she became a Certified Registered Health Information Technician.
Mrs. McIntire had previously been employed by Harvard Medical School in the Infectious Diseases Laboratory, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Health Department, and Harvard University in the Science Center. She had also been employed as a horse trainer and horse farm manager in Delaware and New Jersey, where she as responsible for many horses that were shown nationally.
Vicki was a kind and loving person who was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; a brother, Dana Blanchard of Lynn; 3 sisters, Bonnie Blanchard of Malden, Sally Milewski of Concord, and Diana Baker of Newburyport; a niece, Sara Milewski of Concord; and a nephew, Kevin Milewski of Concord.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
