Judith C. "Judy" Stecher

Judith C. "Judy" Stecher, 78, of Venice, FL, passed away September 14, 2018 at Riverview Health in Noblesville.

Judy was born May 4, 1940, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Edra (Thornburg) and Garold Woods. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1958, she went on to Ball State University where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. She taught at Madison Heights junior and senior high school and continued at Pendleton Heights Middle School, as both a teacher and counselor, where she taught 26 years. During her long teaching career, she was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a national teaching sorority and South Madison Classroom Teacher’s Association. Summers were spent camping, hiking, and later boating on the lake.

After retirement in 1998, Bill and Judy moved to Venice, Florida but still maintained their summer home on Morse Lake in Noblesville. In Venice, she became a member of the Page Turners book club, and took up water color and acrylic painting which she enjoyed tremendously. Many of her paintings hang on the walls of their home in Venice. Traveling was still important but her favorite pastime was spending time walking the beaches in Venice. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Sheryl, a son Jeff, brothers Tim and Mike Fausett and Jerry Woods.

She is survived by her husband, Bill whom she has enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by her daughter Jill (Kevin) Noel; granddaughters ,Jennifer and Katie Noel; sister, Mary Brydges; brother, Pat Fausett; her much loved cousins; brother-in-law, Bob (Paula) Stecher.

Visitation will be held at the chapel on the grounds of Anderson Memorial Park , 6805 Dr. M.L. K. Blvd; Anderson, from 1:00 until 2:00 on Saturday, the 22nd of September, and a brief service will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Organization.
