Virgil Eugene Stamm

Virgil E. Stamm, 93, of Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 31, 2018. He was born on November 18, 1924 to his parents, Floyd and Gertrude Richards Stamm. Virgil was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.

Virgil enjoyed many activities with his wife, Helen. They square-danced, made candy around the holidays, helped their church with bereavement dinners, and attended Senior Saints’ activities. He also loved to play golf and Euchre.

Virgil served his country in The United States Army during World War II. During his military career, Virgil fought in five battles/campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the following commendations: EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon, Purple Heart, and Victory Medal.

Virgil was employed by Schleyer Pump Co Inc. in Anderson, Indiana, Fisher Body in Marion, Indiana, and Guide Lamp, a Division of GM in Anderson, Indiana. He retired from the Model Shop of Guide Lamp on April 1, 1987.

Survivors include: Two daughters, Karen (Terry) Stephens of Anderson, and Connie (Mike) Christensen of Lodi, Wisconsin; grandchildren, David Chase, Dodi (Dede) Chase, Jimmy (Julie) Christensen, Andy (Stefanie) Christensen, Paul (Lindsey) Christensen, and Nicole (Mike) Greene; and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Farmer and Doris (John) Kane; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jack Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 72 years, Helen Barkalow Stamm; siblings, Naomi (Robert) Vickers, Iona Stamm, Floyd (Hazel) Stamm Jr., Glenn (Maralene) Stamm, Norman Stamm, Verle Stamm and Lewis E. Stamm; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Nelson and Jim Farmer; and grandson, Stephen Michael Christensen, Jr.

Services will be at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service located at 229 S. Rangeline Road,
Anderson, Indiana 46012.

Visitation will be Monday, September 3 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM.

The funeral service is on Tuesday, September 4 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Walt Weaver and Pastor Carl Lamb officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Military Rites will be conducted during the service.
