Irene (Coffey) Blackmon, 86, Anderson died July 15, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield after a brief illness.
She was born April 23, 1932 in Burkesville, Kentucky, the daughter of Ellis and May (Melton) Coffey.
She was a homemaker and a cashier at Cracker Barrel.
Irene is survived by her five children, Carla R. Grissom; Mitchell T. Blackmon; Michael R. (Debra) Blackmon, Randy Blackmon-Friedman (Bob); Sandy (Bill) Bryant; eleven grandchildren, Spencer Sokol, Tara Sokol, Angela Grant, Adam Blackmon, Chad Blackmon, Cogan Blackmon, Bailey Saengkeo, Bryce Blackmon, Ryan Knuckles, Justin Bryant, Dylan Blackmon-Friedman; seven great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Audrell Brown and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James C. Blackmon died March 9, 2017 after 67 years of marriage.
A Celebration of Life gathering for the family and friends will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 310 Eats 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
