RYE, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Shirley Elaine (Stumpf) MacDougal, 92, died peacefully on June 17, 2018 at Webster at Rye following a period of declining health.
She was born in Waltham on November 14, 1925 the daughter of the late Richard F. Stumpf and Clara (Bagley) Stumpf.
Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Walter Bruce MacDougal who died on December 28, 2007.
She is survived by her children Robin J. Briden and her husband David J. Briden of Exeter, NH and J. Scott MacDougal and his wife Kathy MacDougal of Douglasville, GA. Grandmother of Jennifer O’Brien and her husband Timothy O’Brien of Epping, NH; Steven Briden and his wife Kaley Briden of Exeter, NH; Kathryn Briden and her fiancé Antonio Araica of Dover, NH and John S. MacDougal and Piper MacDougal both of Douglasville, GA. Great-grandmother of Augustino Araica.
Shirley spent her formative years in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School with her late husband Walter, both in the Class of 1944. For over 25 years, she was associated with Babson College as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant in Human Resources and the Registrars Office.
She resided in Wayland for over 47 years before moving to New Hampshire to be closer to her family. She was an active member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church and served on the Altar Guild.
Visitations will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the John C. Bryant, Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Private family interment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Shirley’s memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, Mass. 02452.
