Constance M. (Murphy) Tierney age 89 of East Dennis passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Leo E. Tierney, Jr. ret. Marine Corp. First Sergeant. Connie had been a resident of South Dennis for the past 25 years having previously resided in New Hampshire and Brockton.
Connie was born and raised in Mission Hill, Boston, daughter of the late Charles and Helen (McCourt) Murphy and sister to the late Charles Murphy. She was a 1947 graduate of Mission Hill High School where she had been a cheerleader. Connie had worked prior to marriage as the secretary for the president of the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston.
In her free time, Connie was an avid reader, loved to paint, work in her garden, entertain and collect recipes. She was a wonderful cook. Connie was a member of the Goddard Hospital Women’s Auxiliary for many years.
Connie is survived by her three children; Kathleen C. Cogliano of Plymouth, Karen F. Arnold of Sparta, NJ and Kevin M. Tierney of Brockton. She was the proud grandmother of Sean and Shannon Russell and Andrew and Matthew Arnold and great grandmother of Elizabeth Rose Russell.
The family would like to thank Pleasant Bay Nursing home for the wonderful care Connie received while living there battling Alzheimer’s.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10-11am with a Service at 11am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
