Joanne M. (Russell) Mercer, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, Died on Wednesday, May 16th at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Born and raised in Boston. She was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Cappucio) Russell.

Joanne enjoyed collecting, anything from antique dolls, elephant statues and other collectable figurines. When she wasn't out looking for the next addition to her collection she was busy making sure her family had something great to eat. She was known for her delicious meals. Joanne was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend she will be remembered for the love she shared with everyone.


Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Mercer Sr. She was the devoted mother of Helen Mercer, Joseph A. Mercer Jr., Darlene Ehrgott and her husband David of Winchester and James Mercer all formerly of Somerville. Loving grandmother of Jason, Matthew and Michael Mercer and Shauna and Ashley Ehrgott. Loving great-grandmother of Lila Mercer. Dear sister of the late James Russell and his surviving wife Madeline.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday, May 21st at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
