Mary Ellen McIntire, of Wilmington formerly of Tewksbury and Woburn, passed away peacefully May 13, 2018 at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Health Center. She was 97 years of age. Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of the late Richard A. McIntire. Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ellen (Brogna) Scelzo.

Mary Ellen was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1938 graduate of Woburn High School. As a young lady she worked and helped out at her Family's place of business, the Rainbow Lounge, formerly in Wilmington. She later worked for twenty years as an assembler at Wang Labs. Mary Ellen was a talented cook and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, hosting holidays and special family events. She loved collecting dolls, Elvis memorabilia and anything that caught her attention. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Foxwoods and while in residence at Woodbriar for the last three years she was always active and participated in many activities.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Mary Ellen O'Neil and her husband Thomas of Warren, RI, Michael McIntire and Cathy Whitten of Tewksbury, Louise Southmayd and her husband Thomas of Wilmington, Edna Peters and her husband David of Tewksbury, the late Richard A. McIntire Jr. She was the loving grandmother of Robert and Brian Surran, Amy Talbot, Michael O'Neil, Deborah Burtt, Richard McIntire, David Peters Jr., and the late Linda Peters. Loving great grandmother of Anthony and Laci Burtt, Owen and Jacqueline O'Neil, Audrey and Jack Talbot, Jason and Joshua Surran and Matthew Peters. Sister of Louise Garland of LaPalma, CA and the late Joseph Scelzo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many extended family members.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, May 18th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
