Obituary

Clair “Chris” S. Cross of Canton, formerly of Hyde Park, died peacefully May 1, 2018 following a long illness. He was 82 years old. Clair was a retired Corporate Banker. He was the devoted husband of Veronica E. Cross (Marquardt) of Canton. Loving father of Robert R. Cross of Hyde Park, Nancy A. Moran and her husband Jack of Stoughton, Linda M. Cross and her husband John J. Copell of Canton, Gerald J. Cross and his wife Laurie of Stoughton, and Lauren M. Sullivan and her husband Stephen of Milton. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Lyndsay, Jamie, Taylor, and Leanne Cross, Colin, John and Daniel Sullivan, and Aidan Copell. Proud great-grandfather of Kendall, Michael and Shayne MacNeil, and Andrew and Ethan Cross. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Clair was a dedicated family man. His first love was his wife Ronnie with whom he shared sixty-two loving years of marriage. Clair’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his beloved family. When his children were younger he was involved in their activities and coached many of their sports teams. Later in life, he loved watching his grandchildren participate in youth sports. His love of sports carried over to all of the Boston sports teams. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan and attended many spring trainings in Florida with family and friends.
One of his favorite hobbies was working with his hands and doing projects around his house. There wasn’t a project he wouldn’t tackle and he often showed up at his children’s houses with toolbox in hand ready to go to work. His Cape house provided a place where he could combine his two favorite past times: DIY projects and family time.
