John P. Traniello

John P. Traniello, a Medford resident for over 50 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 15th at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 76.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Cosmo J. and Margaret (Miano) Traniello. He graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1959. John continued his education at Bentley University, earning his degree in accounting and graduating with the Class of 1969.

John’s career was serving as a financial analyst at Polaroid. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending the majority of his time with his family. He loved his grandchildren dearly and always made each of them feel special. John would always attend his grandson, Salvaore’s, hockey and baseball games, playing shopping cart with his granddaughter, Sophia and racing matchbox cars with his grandson, Marco. In John’s spare time, he enjoyed photography and dining out. He loved food, and his favorites were veal parmesan and sweets of all kinds. John was a gentle person, very kind and easy going. His loving demeanor and caring presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was the beloved husband of Carmella (Carangelo) Traniello. The two were married on November 11, 1967 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in East Boston. Together they shared 50 years of loving marriage. He was the devoted father of David Traniello and his wife Jennifer of Reading, Carla Brogna and her husband Lawrence of Swampscott, and Christopher Traniello of Revere. John was the loving grandfather of Salvatore and Sophia Brogna of Swampscott, and Marco Traniello of Reading. He was the dear brother of Frank Traniello and his wife Deborah of Newbury, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Monday, March 19th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
