Joseph J. Sholik, Jr.
3/9/2018

Joseph J. Sholik Jr., a longtime resident of Methuen passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, following a tragic accident at his home. He was 55 years of age. Joseph was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Saitta) Sholik. Born in West Warrick, Rhode Island he was the cherished son of Eileen (Burke) Sholik of Salem, NH and the late Joseph J. Sholik Sr.

Joseph was Methuen resident for many years and was a graduate of Methuen High School. He received his Associates Degree in Fire Science at the North Shore Community College and was appointed as a Firefighter to the Methuen Fire Department in 1993. He faithfully served the City of Methuen until 2002. Joe also worked as a certified spinning instructor for several years at the Salem Athletic Club where he was one of the more popular instructors and his sessions were always full. Joe was an avid sports fan, especially football, always up to date in the latest sporting news. He will fondly be remembered for his love of the Oakland Raiders and all things black and silver. However, Joseph’s greatest joy was his beloved wife Carol and their family. Nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved especially his grandchildren and his best buddy, his grandson, Justice.

In addition to his wife and mother, Joseph is survived by his sons, Cpl Jonathan J. Sholik USMC, Justin A. McGrail, Derek T. McGrail all of Methuen, and Joshua A. McGrail of Florida. He was the loving papa Joe to Callie, Justice, Brooklynne and Maddox. He is further survived by his sister, Jane McNeil of New Jersey, many cousins and extended family.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home 374 Main St., Wilmington, Sunday, March 18th, from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be private.
