Obituary

Joseph Domenic Barbuti passed away early Friday, February 16th after a brief illness. Born December 31, 1935, Joe is survived by his wife, Lois Ann, his sister-in-law Claire Barbuti, and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents Frank and Louise (Ferarri) Barbuti, his brothers Peter and John, and his sister Mary. Joe was born in Somerville, MA, lived for many years in Woburn, and retired with Lois to Derry, NH. He was a veteran of the armed forces, and a talented and creative Master Electrician working for Massachusetts Electric and a member of the IBEW for his entire career.

Joe had many interesting hobbies, such as attending auctions where he bought and refurbished a seven story coast guard observation tower in Mansfield, MA that he lived in for several years. He also enjoyed photography, music and electronics. He and Lois built a custom home in Woburn from the ground up, where he stored treasured items such as a full suit of armor, a handcrafted bar, and a magnificent entryway through a breathtaking, refinished church door. He adopted a monkey that terrorized the family but was adored by all (except his mother). He was a gentle, soft spoken and kind man who willingly gave his time and resources to those in need and who constantly altered and repurposed everyday items into unique creations.

Memorial service will be held on Friday May 4, 2018 at 3:00pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 2pm until the service begins.
