Ruth E. King, age 95, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home on Monday, February 12, 2018.
Born in Mansfield, MA on July 7, 1922, she was a loving daughter of the late James A. and Laura E. (Hofmann) King.
Ruth grew up in town and was a 1940 graduate of Mansfield High School. She worked for over twenty-five years at Bay Bank, including the Mansfield Branch, and retired as a mortgage processor. She was previously employed at the former S.W. Card Co. in Mansfield.
Ruth was a longtime member of the Congregational Church of Mansfield and active volunteered at Our Daily Bread Food Pantry in Mansfield. She was also a member of the former Mansfield Grange.
Ruth loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and their families. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, word search and reading the daily newspaper. Ruth’s family would like to thank the Community Visiting Nurse Agency in Attleboro for the exceptional care and kindness extended to her.
She was the dear sister of the late Ronald E. King. She was the cherished aunt of Laurie A. Chace and her husband Dale of North Attleboro and Ronald D. King, Paul E. King, and Kathy A. Risotti and her husband George all of Mansfield. She was the adoring great aunt of Ryan King, Courtney Wikiera, Nicole Chace, Tyler Risotti and Austin Risotti.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Our Daily Bread Food pantry, 15 West St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
