John G. Precourt, 69

John G. Precourt, age 69, of Norton, formerly of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his adoring family, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born in Attleboro, MA on June 25, 1948, he was a loving son of the late Ernest J. and Ethel A. (Carpenter) Precourt.

John grew up in Norton, was a graduate of Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro and attended Northeastern University in Boston.

John was a self- employed electrician, and previously owned and operated Precourt Electric in Norton. He had made his home in Norton for most of his life and had also resided in North Attleboro, where he raised family, for over twenty-five years.

While living in North Attleboro he was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church and when younger at St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, of which he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a Scoutmaster as well.

John loved spending time with his family and was very proud of his son’s. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling by way of road and bowling at North Bowl Lanes in North Attleboro.

He is survived by his devoted sons Michael V. Precourt and his wife Nicole of Norton, Eric D. Precourt of North Attleboro, and Brian G. Precourt and his wife Melissa of Florida. He was the dear brother of Joseph Precourt and his late wife Wanda of Florida, Wilfred “Buddy” Precourt and his wife Bette of Norton, Paul Precourt and his wife Anna of Norton, James Precourt and his wife Cindy of Norton, David Precourt and his wife Kim of Norton, and Dennis Precourt and his wife Nancy of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Gwendolyn and Jayden Precourt. He was the boy friend of Bunny Roche and the former husband of Nancy Precourt-Smith. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.


His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 6th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 5th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.

In lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
