Meredith Ann (Varney) Westgate of Melrose died on Sunday, January 7, at the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. Raised and educated in Somerville, she was the daughter of Alfred T. Varney Jr. and the late Lois R. (Bertocchi) Varney.

Meredith was the beloved wife of William Westgate, and the devoted mother of Ally Rose Westgate. She was the daughter-in-law of Kathleen and Bob Gorman of Tewksbury, sister of Alan L. Varney and his wife Bonnie Cody of Dallas, Texas, and sister-in-law of Karen McDonald and her husband Alan of Haverhill, and Michael Westgate and his wife Carolyn of Somerville. Meredith was the aunt of Kyle and Andrew McDonald, Shannon and Ryan Westgate, and is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, January 18, at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 4 through 7:30 PM. Interment will be private.
