Rena Gibson Stark
1/2/2018

WESTON: Rena Gibson Stark, 77, formerly of Scotland, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving extended family on January 2, 2018 following a period of declining health.
She was born in St. Boswells, Melrose, Scotland of the United Kingdom on January 15, 1940 the daughter of the late David Stark and Catherine (Weir) Stark.
After receiving her nursing training in Scotland, Rena came to the United States at 18 years old. Dedicating her life to caring for others, she began her employment as a beloved Nanny and Housekeeper to the Braunwald, Spalding, Viles and Appleby families, all of Weston. They have been her devoted loving family for 58 years.
She is survived by her sister Jean Bickers of England and the late Marjorie Roseburgh. She was the aunt of Jane Charlton of England; Gillian Lugbill of VA; David and Thomas Roseburgh of Scotland. Great-aunt of Kelly Clark of MA; Stephanie Lugbill of VA; Jenny Audley and Emily Charlton of England; David Charlton of New Zealand and Great-great aunt of Leo Charlton of New Zealand. She is also survived by her loving and devoted extended family Eugene Braunwald, Elaine Smith-Braunwald, Cindy Appleby and Mac Spencer of Weston; Karen Braunwald and Peter Erines; Allison and Harvey Goldfine, Jill Porter and Jeff Porter all of Wayland and Liza Appleby and Erica Nourjian of Mattapoisett. She was gifted with the love of second and third generations of the families she cared for, including Dana Landeros; Alex Erines; Ben and Rachel Porter; Cari, Mara and Elise Goldfine and Nina Landeros. She spent as much time as she could as “Nana Rena” with “her heart” Callie Elizabeth Nourjian. The Wheelock and Eldon families, the First Parish pastoral care group and knitters, and her friends at Brook School Apartments will sorely miss her.
She loved music of all varieties, going to the movies, watching tv shows such as Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Trek, WGBH and PBS and the cooking shows. She loved her special garden that she shared with her friend George at the Brook School Apartments. Rena loved baking and cooking, knitting and needlepointing, coloring in coloring books and her cat Smokie.
Rena adored the family she created for herself in the United States and spent her entire life caring for them with unconditional love and support. She lived life to the fullest right to the end and only a few weeks earlier enjoyed going to the Nutcracker and A Celtic Christmas Sojourn.
Burdened by many health issues, she fought hard like a Scottish warrior, suffered with grace and dignity but never complained and is finally at peace. She will be lovingly remembered by all the lives she touched and she was a gift from heaven.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
