David A. “Chief” Czubak, 73, Johnston, died unexpectedly, Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Marsha A. (Heywood) Czubak. They had been married for 50 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Z. Anthony and Mary L. (O’Donnell) Czubak. He was a lifelong resident of Johnston. He was a graduate of Scituate High School and Rhode Island College. He served in the US Army during Vietnam.
His early mechanic years were at the late Scuncio Chevrolet in Smithfield. His hobbies included racing his '63 Plymouth and family Lake Parties. In 2007 he retired from the US Postal Service, Providence, Vehicle Maintenance Facility. He was a member of the Smithfield Lodge of Elks, #2309 and was also an honorary member of many Street Rod Associations, both near and far. His recent activities were living the retirement life on the Lake, catching Big Bass Larry, Square Foot Gardening, building cars, cooking dinner for his daughters, a cold beer and traveling the East Coast with friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Diane Czubak Gomes and Lisa M. Czubak, both of Johnston. His Godson, Aaron Colaluca, of Chepachet. His brothers-in-Law & sisters-in Law; Donald & Sandra Dennehy, Howard & Janice Heywood and their families as well as the numerous circles of friends he welcomed into his family for the past 73 years of life.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm.
