Obituary

Thompson, Gerald Wade “Jerry”, 74, passed away December 12, 2017, with his loving family by his side; after a 22 month battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Valley Station, KY and was the only child of Charles James and Ruth Lois (Cundiff) Thompson, who precede him in death as well as a “brother”, Brad Schroerlucke. He was employed by Louisville Gas and Electric Company for 40 years, a member of Valley Christian Church, and at one time an avid bowler. He was a diehard fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, loved watching NASCAR, drag racing, which at one time he raced at Ohio Valley with his 1970 Chevy Nova, the “Seducer", and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass and Classic Country music. He also loved spending time at his lake house, “Redneck Paradise” in Campbellsville, KY with family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry Lee (Schroerlucke) Thompson; a daughter, Jami Lynn Thompson; “son”, Todd Schroelucke; “five grandchildren”, Jordan and Ally Blain and Katie, Callum and Connor McLauchlin; two aunts, Dorothy Renfro and Betty Hiestand; “brother”, Layne Smith (Mary); and numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m.
