Obituary

Mrs. JoAnne (Mullins) Lilly, a resident of North Andover, MA, formerly a resident of Andover, MA for 41 years, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017. She was 85 years old.

Born in Charleston, WV in February 1932, she was the beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Lilly, her husband of nearly 54 years, and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Jewell Mullins of Dunbar, WV. She is survived by her loving daughters Susan Lilly of Watertown, MA and Kimberly Curry of Hillsboro, OR and her husband, Rob Curry. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Oak and Wyatt Alger; brother Richard Mullins and his wife JoAnn of Salem, VA; sister-in-law Sue Lilly of Milton, WV; five nieces and nephews; and countless extended loved ones.

JoAnne was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus School of Nursing and spent her career working as an Operating Room nurse. She was an avid gardener, lover of the outdoors and longtime member of the Andover Garden Club. Her philanthropic endeavors included volunteering at Camp Sunshine in Casco, ME and for the Lawrence General Hospital Auxiliary in Lawrence, MA. JoAnne and Bill approached retirement with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure- biking, walking and skiing their way through China, Ireland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Scotland, France, England and Holland, and returning to Boston for the Boston Celtics at every home game without fail - winning season or losing season.

Calling hours will be held at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, MA on Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 PM. JoAnneā€™s Funeral Service will be celebrated at South Church, 41 Central Street, Andover, MA on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be held immediately following in the West Parish Garden Cemetery in Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in JoAnne's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Mass and NH chapter (https://www.alz.org/manh).
