Obituary

Mr. John A. “Jack” Hannagan, a lifelong resident of Lawrence and beloved husband of Janice M. (Tinkham) Hannagan passed away at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was 73 years old.

Born in Lawrence on February 15, 1944, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (McMahon) Hannagan. Jack grew up in Lawrence and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. After high school, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he received a medal of good conduct for his exemplary service. In civilian life, Jack worked as a Machinist for his entire working career. He had spent the last 20 years working for MKS in Lawrence. He loved his job and the people that he worked with.

Jack was an avid sports fan. There was no greater cheerleader for all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. He loved playing golf and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. His life was a masterpiece of how to do everything the right way, the best way. It did not mater to him how much longer or how complicated things could become, that it was the best way to accomplish it. He also loved visiting Lake Winnipesaukee. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather always spending time with each of them. The family motto is “WWGD” “What Would Gramp Do?” He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved wife, Janice, he is survived by his loving children; Patricia A. and her husband Edward C. Domenichello of Moultonboro, New Hampshire, Cheryl Paine of Bradenton, Florida, Jeffrey and his wife Susanne Kane of Denmark and Pamela and her husband David Lynch of Derry, New Hampshire, grandchildren; Seth, Dennis, Shera, Edward, Jennifer, Miles, Gerrette, Tyler, Jeffrey, Zachary, Paige, Spencer, Kyle and Rachel, great-grandchildren; Mercedes, Bryden, Logan, Macie, Annabelle, Preston, Nathan, Camden and Nicholas. He was also the father of the late Shawn Hannagan and brother of the late Patricia A. Clavette.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Broadway, Lawrence on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most we.come to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover. Donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675.
