FALL RIVER – Manuel Francisco Furtado Carreiro, a.k.a Manuel Salema, age 79, passed away on November 14, 2017 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Margarida C. (Moniz) Carreiro. Born in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Jose Correia and Maria P. (Furtado) Carreiro.
Along with his wife he is survived by his children Manuela Medeiros (husband Domingos) of Fall River, Dina Raposo (husband Paulo) of Somerset and Laudalino Furtado (wife Tonya) of Fall River; siblings João Martinho Carreiro and David Carreiro, both of Açores, and Jaime Carreiro of Fall River. He also leaves behind 9 grandchilren, Kyle, Patrick, Aaron, Eric, Kristen Medeiros, Samantha, Stephanie, Shawn Raposo, Nicholas Furtado, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Antonio, Alice and Eugenio Carreiro.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday here at 7:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Santo Christo Church at 8:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday from 4-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
