FALL RIVER – Alice (Vultao) Borges, age 86 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. Born in Santa Barbara, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel “Maiã” & Georgina “Maiã” (Viveiros) Vultão and the beloved wife of the late Eduardo Borges.
Alice was a homemaker at home and a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church. She was best known for baking her popular Biscoitos & her famous stuffed quahogs.
She is survived by her children: Georgina Paula Viana, Tessie Rezendes, owner of the former Tessie’s hair Salon, (husband Armand), Mary “Betty” Arruda (husband Antonio), and Edward Borges (wife Lucia); 2 sisters: Lucinda Reis & Georgina dos Santos; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter: Kara, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many siblings.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday here at 7:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
