Zerita M. (Greany) Burlin, age 99, of Brewster, formerly of Mansfield and Foxboro, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Woodlands at Pleasant Bay in Brewster. She was the beloved wife of the late Willard C. Burlin.

Born in Mansfield, MA on June 19, 1918, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis D. and Ethel L. (Fayant) Greany

Zerita grew up in Mansfield and was a 1935 graduate of Mansfield High School. She continued her studies graduating from Burdett College, where she majored in business.

A familiar face in the Foxboro community, Mrs. Burlin retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of the Foxboro Public Schools. Following retirement Zerita worked part time, till the age of 80, as Secretary of the Foxboro School Committee.

Zerita was an active member of the Union Church of South Foxboro. She was also an active member of the Foxboro Recreation Committee and was the founder of the children’s playground in Foxboro.

Zerita loved spending time with her adoring family, especially at the family’s cottage in Gilmanton, NH. She had a lifelong love of writing poetry, expressing herself in poetic words, and was very instrumental in making sure her fellow school classmates gathered for yearly reunions.

Zerita’s family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Woodlands at Pleasant Bay, for the kind and dignified way in which they cared for her.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Frances-Dee Burlin and her spouse Marge Cook of Harwich, Dorinda J. Burlin and her spouse Susan Marks of Marshfield, and Kendra L. Brown and her husband Richard of Haverhill. She was cherished grandmother of Kendalle O’Connell and her husband Stephen and Katrina Brown, and the great grandmother of Kaden and Chatham. She was the dear sister of the late Jeanne Tripp, Charlotte Cody, Theodore Greany, Earl Greany and Barbara Russell, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, November 1st at 11:00 A.M. in the Union Church of South Foxboro, 384 South St, Foxboro. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Zerita’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660 or the Community VNA, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
