Cecile M. "Cis" (DeJordy) Kindness Ker

CHICOPEE – Cecile M. “Cis” (DeJordy) Kindness Ker, 101, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in the Manchaug Village of Sutton, MA on March 3, 1916, the youngest beloved daughter of 13 children of the late Alphonse and Louise (Marchand) DeJordy. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, New Hampshire and had lived in Chicopee most of her life. She furthered her education and graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield. She was employed as a Private Duty Registered Nurse for many years. She was a communicant and longtime volunteer at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She also volunteered her time at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee. She enjoyed crafting and needle point projects and made many Christmas ornaments. Above all, she showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Harold E. Kindness who was Called Home on April 27, 1983; her beloved second husband, Henry L. Ker who was Called Home on January 6, 1990; and her loving son, James R. Kindness. She leaves her loving daughter and son-in-law, Susan M. Sweeney and her husband, Richard, of Chicopee; her seven cherished grandchildren, Michael S. Sweeney and his wife, Kim, Timothy E. Sweeney and Richard P. Sweeney and his wife, Jill, all of Chicopee, Patrick J. Sweeney and his wife, Theresa, of Suffield, CT, Sean M. Sweeney and his wife, Jennifer, of Milton, MA, Keri A. Cloutier and her husband, Larry, of Granby and Christopher J. Kindness and his wife, Seanna, of Chicopee; her many cherished great-grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Kindness, Ker and DeJordy families. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
