Obituary


Richard M. Cribben, age 80 of Lakeville, died Sunday September 24, 2017 at Nemasket Health Care after a period of failing health. He was the devoted husband of Ginger (Farley) Cribben. Richard was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Michael and Julia (Hunt) Cribben and had lived in Lakeville for the past 30 years. A 1955 graduate of Brockton High School, Richard had also earned an associate degree from Massasoit Community College.
An electrician by trade, Richard retired from IBEW local 223 and then went on to work in the signal division of the Brockton Fire Department. He had been a member of the Firefighters Union Local 144.
In his younger years, Richard played softball for many years with the Hanson Athletic Association and coached his son Michael’s baseball team. He also enjoyed dancing, playing golf with his daughter Julie and traveling with his wife. He had been a member of the Middleboro Elks Lodge.
Richard will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He cherished time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his children Michael Cribben and his wife Linda of Newburyport and Julie Bonanno and her husband Robert of Plymouth and two step children William Farley and his wife Michelle of N. Easton and Edward Farley of Boston. He was the grandfather of Stephen Cribben of E. Bridgewater, Trevor, Hailey and Anthony Cribben of Newburyport, Ava Bonanno of Plymouth, Adriana Johnson of N. Easton and the late Nicholas A. Farley. Brother of Mildred and Ellen Cribben both of Brockton and the late James, John, William, Gerald, Harold, Ralph and Lawrence Cribben.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday September 28, 2017 4-7pm followed by a Funeral Service at 7pm.
