Roy Thomas Arnold, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Roy was the son of the late Thomas and Hazel (Donald) Arnold and was born in Somerville, MA. Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife Grace Katherine (Orrell) Arnold to whom he was married for 64 years and his beloved grandson Sean Patrick Cone as well as his sister Bernice Canty.

Roy grew up in Somerville and went to Somerville High School where he played hockey. After graduation Roy enlisted in The United States Marine Corp where he spent four year serving in World War II. He served bravely during the battle of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands in 1944. Upon his return home he went to work for the Boston and Maine Railroad where he spent 40 years. He retired in 1982 and spent his retirement golfing and following his family's sporting events and his beloved Red Sox.

Roy and Grace were married in 1942 and settled in Somerville, MA until they moved to Wilmington in 1956. Roy was a lifelong Wilmington resident.

Roy is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Keith and Jan Arnold, Bruce Arnold, Lyn and John French, Alison and Greg Corcoran, Leslie Cone , Thomas and Lisa Arnold and Barbara and Michael Garofano. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his cousins in New Brunswick, Canada

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 12 noon at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington followed by internment with military honors in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
