Daniel J. Doherty, Jr. of Salisbury formerly of Leominster and Woburn, passed away peacefully September 18, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was 58 years of age. Dan was the beloved husband of Gina M. (Park) Doherty. Born in Winchester he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Kathleen M. (O'Donnell) Doherty Sr.

Raised in Woburn, Dan was a 1977 graduate of Woburn High School where he excelled as a student athlete and was member of the baseball team. Following high school Dan attended Eastern New Mexico University and later transferred to UMASS Lowell where he earned and received his BS Degree in Political Science. Dan lived in Florida for several years while working in public relations and communications in cruise ship industry. He later worked for many years as a radio broadcaster. In his leisure time he enjoyed screenplay writing, listening to music, golfing with friends and family, and caring for his pet dogs. Dan was also a former member of the Woburn Lodge of Elks. However, one of his greatest joys was to spend time with his niece and nephews, attending and supporting them in their many activities and sporting events. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gina, Dan is survived by his brothers, Thomas E. Doherty and his wife Debra of Littleton, and Charles E. Doherty and his wife Kathleen of Woburn. He was the loving uncle of Christopher, Patrick, Maura, Joseph, Jack and Thomas Doherty. Brother-in-law of Kenneth Park of Falmouth and Richard Park of Norwell.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 2 thru 6 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
