Peter F. Telis of Wilmington formerly of Saugus, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend to many as well as an avid classic car collector. He passed away peacefully September 16th, 2017 following a brief but courageous battle with stomach cancer at the age of 75.

Peter is survived by his son Christopher Telis and his wife Chelsea, daughter Kimberly (Telis) LaVerde, two grandchildren Justin and Paige, Sister Evelyn Lucas and her husband Michael as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Diana (Citro) and his parents Frank and Georgia.

Born in Lynn, Peter in his early years attended Greek school and was an altar boy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School and then received an associates degree from Franklin Institute. He was talented man, who at a young age was a ham operator and had the impressive ability to build and restore stereo equipment. Peter was able to merge these constructing skills with his family`s entrepreneurial mindset by purchasing the family business, Melrose Donut Shop, from his father in the 1960`s located in Melrose, MA. He later founded Heavenly Donut in Methuen, MA in the early 1970`s then changed the Melrose Donut Shop name to the growing name of Heavenly Donut. Peter spent many years raising his children in Saugus then later purchased his home in Wilmington.

Peter had many hobbies. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, boating and had a lifelong love of automobiles. A true "car guy` to the very end. Peter was passionate not just with collecting and restoring but the entire car hobby. He will be remembered for his extensive knowledge of all types of cars and his willingness to share that knowledge with anyone that was interested. He was well respected and considered a mentor and friend to many. The entire car world will miss him deeply.

Peter loved being the life of the party. People who met him were drawn to his outgoing personality and quick-witted sense of humor. His energy and love for having a good time was infectious. The laughter shared and countless memories will live on forever. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his all family and friends.

Visiting Hours: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Thursday September 21st, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Family Funeral Home at 60 Pleasant Street Woburn, MA 01801

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant Street, Woburn, MA, Friday, September 22nd, at 9 am followed by a funeral service conducted in the Annunciation of The Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Everett.
