Lydia E. “Chickie” (DeAngelis) Florino, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 31st at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham. She was 84.

Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena (Cogliano) DeAngelis. Chickie graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1951. On November 14, 1954, she and her husband Richard were married at St. Clement Church in Medford. Together they began their family with love and devotion.

A homemaker, she loved her family more than anything. Chickie devoted her life to caring for others. She was a sincere woman who was straight forward, to the point and direct about how she felt and what she wanted. Everyone knew where they stood in Chickie’s eyes.

In her spare time, Chickie enjoyed time spent with family, cooking, dining out, and vacationing to Maine and Foxwoods. No restaurant could beat her cooking; she was famous for her roast beef, Easter pizza, ravioli and Italian cookies. Chickie was someone who loved bargain shopping and was known for delivering K-Mart blue light specials to her children. She was also a member of the Stoneham Red Hats and enjoyed their weekly Wednesday meetings and monthly trips. Chickie was also a lover of sweets and candy of all kinds.

Chickie was the beloved wife of the late Richard Florino, who passed away in 1997. The two shared forty-three loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Richard J. Florino Jr. and his wife Janet of New Hampshire, Diane Quigley and her husband Thomas of Tewksbury, Darlene Coppins and her husband Ken of Wilmington, Ronald Florino and his wife Marybeth of Tewksbury, Robert Florino and his wife Wendy of Stoneham. Chickie was the loving grandmother of Rick, Jennell, Becca, Samantha, Kelly, Lydia, Talia, R.J., Lili and Dominic and was the loving great grandmother of many. She is also survived by many loving step grandchildren, one sister, one sister-in-law and two nieces.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, September 8th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
