Edith M. Maher (Detert) age 92 of Quincy, formerly of Braintree and Mattapan passed away August 31st surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Boston, she previously lived in Mattapan for 57 years and Braintree for 26 years. She worked as an Operator for New England Telephone in Boston, and previously worked as a receptionist for Bay State Milling Co. and Yellow Cab in Quincy. Edith was an avid Bowler and enjoyed bowling in several South Shore bowling leagues. Beloved wife of the late Francis X. Mother of Mary Ellen Nott of Medford, Michael F. Maher of Randolph, Denise Stasio of N.C., Deborah Armstead and Theresa Maltz both of East Bridgewater. Sister of the late John Detert and William Detert. Grandmother of Michael Maher, Jr., Andrea Stasio, Kim Stasio, Veronica Maltz and the late James Stasio. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church 210 Central St. East Bridgewater Tuesday morning at 10. Visiting hours at the church Tuesday morning prior to the mass from 9 to 10 am. Burial VA National Cemetery, Bourne Tuesday afternoon at 12:45.
