Mary Lou Kurimchak Mooty

Mary Lou Kurimchak Mooty, Dickson City, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, James Mooty.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Heichelback Kurimchak, she was a graduate of Mid Valley High School and Lackawanna County Vo-Tech, where she studied nursing. She was employed at Penn Foster in the data processing department. She was previously employed by Haband and Dunkin' Donuts. She was a loving, caring and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her loving German shepherds, Sausha and Shania. She loved attending concerts, sporting events and especially her beloved Philadelphia Eagles. Some of her best memories were time spent at the beach with her family. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff and nurses of traditional home health and Dr. Rajan Mulloth.

Also surviving are daughters, Nicole Barrett and husband, Anthony, Dickson City; Sarah Malinowski and husband, Stephen, Blakely; Jennifer Keith and husband, Robert, Jessup; a son, Austin James Mooty, Dickson City; six grandchildren, Aubrey, Natalie, Alex, Isabella, Robbie and Aliyah; two nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn Hludzik, Kathy Kurimchak; and mother-in-law, Mary Evelyn Mooty.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church in Olyphant. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely.
