Mabel C. “Mae” (Whalen) Dudek, age 84, of Mansfield passed away surrounded by her adoring family on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford. She was the beloved wife of Stanley L. Dudek, to whom she was wed for the past fifty-three years.

Born in South Boston, MA on February 9, 1933, she was a loving daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (Sullivan) Whalen.

Mae grew up in South Boston and Hyde Park, and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. Prior to retiring she had worked as a clerk for the Department of Unemployment Security in Massachusetts.

A resident of Mansfield for the past thirty-eight years, she had previously resided in Hyde Park. Mrs. Dudek was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and volunteered her assistance at the Mansfield Council on Aging,

Mae treasured the times spent amongst her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed the winter months spent in sunny Florida, traveling and being a member of the Friends of Poland Society in New Bedford.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children Stanley W. Dudek and his wife Ellen of Mansfield, Maryellen Dudek of Mansfield, and Jennifer D. Petrangelo and her husband Francis of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of Madeline Dudek, Sophia Dudek, Julia Dudek, Christiene Davies, Jacqueline Smith, Anthony Petrangelo and Joseph Petrangelo. She was the dear sister of Eleanore Saliba of Weymouth, Estelle Stanley of Centerville, Mary Jane Remondi of Pembroke and the late Edward Whalen and William Whalen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, September 5th beginning at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 4th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Mae’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Milford Regional Medical Center Foundation, 113 Water St., Milford, MA 01757.
