Kathryn Lynnell (Bordewisch) Connolly
8/10/2017

NATICK: Kathryn Lynnell (Bordewisch) Connolly, 72, died peacefully and comfortably with her husband by her side on Thursday, August 10, 2017, persevering to the end to continue to interact with her family and friends while living with ALS.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 20, 1944 the daughter of the late Harold L. “Bud” and Dorothy E. (Garner) Bordewisch of Beavercreek, OH.
Besides her mother, Lynnell is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Paul E. Connolly of Natick. Beloved mother of Peter C. Connolly and his wife Jane Chan of Oakland, CA; Maureen E. Hubbard and her husband Dennis Hubbard of Lancaster; and Stephen J. Connolly and his wife Lauren Connolly of Billerica. Cherished grandmother of Zoe Hubbard, Benjamin Connolly and Ziva Hubbard. She was the sister of Gayle M. Prehn of Romeoville, IL.
Lynnell spent her formative years in Beavercreek, Ohio and has been a resident of Natick for the past 44 years. She graduated from Beavercreek High School in Ohio with the Class of 1962 and received her BS in Education from Miami University in Ohio in 1966. For several years, she taught fourth and fifth grade students in the Dayton Public Schools. Shortly after her marriage, she moved to Texas with her husband Paul who was in the Air Force. Lynnell received her Masters in Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972.
Lynnell and Paul moved to Natick where Lynnell spent the major portion of her time raising her children and volunteering—Cub Scout den leader, Girl Scout troop leader, and active school supporter (reading to kindergartners, chaperoning trips, making items for the craft fairs). After her children were older, Lynnell resumed her teaching career in Natick at Kennedy Middle School, Bennett-Hemenway School and, for the most years, up until her retirement, Johnson School.
She has been a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church in Wayland. She helped start Create & Relate, the prayer shawl ministry. She was actively involved with the Education Committee, the Worship Committee, the church choir, and the local unit of United Methodist Women, serving in a number of officer positions. She spent countless hours helping with preparations for the annual church fairs, especially the extensive decorations that highlighted the chosen theme. She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch. Her hobby was genealogical research to discover her own family tree or perhaps to help a friend get started. Her sport was ten-pin bowling.
Lynnell enjoyed vacation traveling with her family and especially wanted to visit the residences of United States Presidents whenever she was near one. In fact most places of historic interest were at the top of her must-stop-and-see list.
She wanted to spend time in her flower and vegetable gardens at her Natick home (until the heat of late summer and continually growing weeds scared the fun away). Lynnell lived life to the full and enjoyed the time she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, other family and friends. She will be remembered and loved by all the people whom she reached out to and touched.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.

A Memorial Service celebrating Lynnell’s life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, Route 27 (corner of Rte. 27 and Damon St.), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Lynnell’s memory may be sent to Compassionate Care ALS, PO BOX 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574 or to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.
