WAYLAND: James Domenic “Jim” Spinale, 77, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his loving and devoted family on August 9, 2017 following a brief illness.
He was born in Boston on April 2, 1940 the son of the late James F. Spinale and Josephine (Passanisi) Spinale.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Lorraine M. (Lingley) Spinale of Wayland. Beloved father of James D. Spinale and his wife Robin Spinale of Wayland and Debra A. Bell and her husband Christopher Bell of Wayland. Cherished grandfather of Tatiana Spinale; David Spinale and his wife Lindsey Spinale and Anthony, Timothy, Nichole and Kendall Bell. Caring brother of John Spinale of Arlington. Also survived by many cousins and his beloved dog Ginger.
Jim spent his formative years in the West End of Boston on Staniford Street and in Arlington before moving to Wayland 57 years ago. He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and attended Franklin Technical School and Wentworth Institute of Technology while at Polaroid. Jim had a long and distinguished career of over 40 years as a Machinist at Polaroid Corporation in Waltham before retiring. He was a member of the Polaroid Retirees Association. As a young boy, he delighted in being a newspaper boy in Boston especially at South Station.
Jim enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, times spent dancing with his wife Lorraine and fixing and repairing automobiles. He and Lorraine also spent a great amount of time traveling throughout the country in their motor home.
Jim was an adoring husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family and a truly wonderful man who always put his family first. Jim also spent many hours at the family owned Wayland Shoes for 25 years. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitations will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Private family interment will be held in the Spinale family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27), Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Jim’s memory may be sent to Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Road. Sudbury, MA 01776 and would be appreciated.
